KATHMANDU: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC) Dr. Shashanka Koirala has been admitted to Chabahil-based Om hospital on Wednesday morning.
Dr. Koirala, 58, was rushed to the hospital at 5:30 am after complaints of abdominal pain. According to his personal aide Bharat Tiwari, Koirala had vomited several times last night and his blood pressure was low at 10/70 and saturation peripheral oxygen recorded 98%.
At present, he is on ventilator support and his medical condition is critically ill with stable vital signs under advanced life support.

According ot the medical report issued by the attending doctors, his blood pressure now is at 90/60, oxygen saturation 96 percent, heart rate is 130 beats per minute. His ECG is normal. His Chest X-ray showed extensive pneumonia of left lung.
A team of senior medical consultants including Dr Bhagawan Koirala is attending to him.
NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba along with other politicians have reached the hospital.
Dr Koirala had been elected as new NC general secretary defeating Arjun Narsingh KC and Gagan Thapa in the party's 13th National General Convention held in early March.
