KATHMANDU, Nov 24: The Kathmandu District Court has approved an extension of the judicial remand for Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), by an additional 15 days. The decision, made by Judge Himlal Belbase of the Kaski District Court, allows the police to continue their investigation while keeping Lamichhane in custody.
Earlier, on November 10, the court had authorized a 13-day detention. Lamichhane is under investigation by the Kaski police on charges of embezzling funds from the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara and redirecting them to Gorkha Media Network.
Court extends Durga Prasai’s judicial remand by four days
Alongside Lamichhane, former DIG Chhabilal Joshi and Lila Pahichai have also been granted extended custody for 15 days. The Chitwan District Court has issued arrest warrants for Lamichhane and Joshi in connection with the alleged embezzlement of funds from Sahara Savings in Chitwan.
