KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Nepal has urged its neighbors including China to respect the new political map that was endorsed by parliament in 2020. The new political map includes Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura that are currently held by India.

In response to the media query regarding 2023 edition of the standard map of China that fails to recognize Nepal’s new political map, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) said that Nepal stands firm and clear on its political and administrative map unanimously approved by the parliament of Nepal in 2020.  “The Government of Nepal unequivocally believes that this map must be respected by our neighbors as well as the international community,” said a Spokesperson at the MoFA.

This comes in the wake of China in its new map not recognizing Nepal’s revised political map. This courted serious criticisms against the government for its diplomatic weakness to convince China on its new political map.

MoFA Spokesperson also added that Nepal remains committed to resolve the boundary matters through dialogues and diplomacy. Officials said Nepal expects all its neighbors as well as others to recognize the new political map that was revised to include Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipulekh.
