Durga Prasai encircled by police during pro-monarchy demonstration

Tensions rose when a vehicle supporting Prasai attempted to break through the police barricade, escalating the situation. Following this, Prasai found himself encircled by the police.

KATHMANDU, March 28: Durga Prasai, the commander of the pro-monarchy movement, has been surrounded by the police during the ongoing protest at Tinkune.


Tensions rose when a vehicle supporting Prasai attempted to break through the police barricade, escalating the situation. Following this, Prasai found himself encircled by the police.

To control the situation, the police fired five rounds of tear gas, and also resorted to baton charges and water cannons.


After the police used force, the protesters retreated. The pro-monarchist group threw stones at the police, and the situation in the Tinkune area remains tense.
