KATHMANDU, Jan 27: Nepal recorded as many as 8,017 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday along with 5,292 recoveries and 15 deaths, according to the latest information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 21,808 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 5,816 PCR and 2,201 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the deadly virus.

There are currently 90,882 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 88,642 are in self-isolation, 1,934 in institutional isolation, 257 in ICUs, and 49 on ventilators. Similarly, 149 people are currently in quarantine facilities. So far, 11,687 people have died of the viral infection across the country.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley alone recorded 3,143 cases of the virus on Thursday. Of them, 2,402 were recorded in Kathmandu, 220 in Bhaktapur, and 521 in Lalitpur districts.
