KATHMANDU, Feb 15: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has decided in favor of ratifying the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement. The meeting of the NC’s parliamentary party held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday decided to request the government to table the agreement at parliament. The meeting decided to stand in favor of ratifying it through the House.
Talking to media persons after the meeting, NC leader Dr Shashank Koirala said that the MCC will be tabled at the parliament meeting, scheduled for tomorrow. He said that the party will vote in favor of ratifying it. He also asserted that the project is good for the country’s development.
Bungling on MCC
“Ram Sharan Mahat said that the MCC project is good for the country in the briefing. The project is running in nine other countries without any intervention from the US Army. The MCC project is likely to be tabled at tomorrow's meeting and we are in favor of it,” Koirala said.
