Maoist Center should leave alliance if not in favor of MCC: Former PM Bhattarai

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Ruling coalition partner Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that CPN (Maoist Center) should quit the ruling alliance immediately if the party is not in favor of ratifying the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant agreement.

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Ruling coalition partner Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Federal Council Chairman Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that CPN (Maoist Center) should quit the ruling alliance immediately if the party is not in favor of ratifying the US-funded Millenium Challenge Corporation (MCC) grant agreement. He also warned Dahal not to talk about leaving the coalition when the MCC is being ratified through parliament.


Dr Bhattarai said that the CPN (Maosit Center) will have to leave the coalition government and another party will take its place if the Maoists do not vote in favor of MCC. Speaking at a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, Bhattarai said that the CPN (Maoist Center) will not be allowed to commit treason while portraying themselves as nationalist

Dr Bhattarai also said that they are in favor of ratifying the MCC by a clear majority through parliament. Bhattarai argued that Nepal should pass the MCC for the prosperity and development of the country. He also pointed out the danger of Nepal being under geopolitical pressure from China, India and the United States if the MCC is not ratified.
