MAKWANPUR, May 31: General Secretary of the Nepali Congress (NC) Gagan Thapa has directed the newly-elected people's representatives from the ruling alliance to work as per the people's aspirations.
People have vented their ire against the political parties due to the CPN-UML government's mishandling of the situation, he argued, adding that time has come to ensure change to the people.

At a program organized to congratulate the newly-elected people's representatives on Monday, Thapa accused the CPN-UML of acting against political culture and the people's aspirations, which he said had disappointed the people.
Thapa further said that with the victory of the ruling alliance in most of the local bodies, UML governments in all tiers - federal, provincial and local - have been removed.
"However, we are not allowed to work haphazardly. Transparency, accountability and good governance must be ensured," he said.
