The board meeting of the NAC decided to extend the term of 45 temporary staff working in the Ground Handling division of the Tribhuvan Internation Airport (TIA) by six more months.[break]
Only last month, the anti-corruption body Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had instructed NAC not to extend the term of the temporary workers whoses contracts had ended and release them from work immediately.
The 45 employees had been working at the TIA even though their contract with the national flag carrier had ended.
Similarly, the corporation has also hired four Flight Dispatcher who were retiring the end of last fiscal year because of the age factor. "The board meeting has decided to hire them in contract," NAC Spokesperson Saroj Kasajoo said.
Meanwhile, NAC is finally moving ahead with its recruitment process for vacancies announced nearly five months ago. Although no reason for the delays were given, the airlines officials said the selection exams had been scheduled for October with the target to complete the entire process by November.
NAC had invited applications for 119 posts in its account and administration department about five months ago for which 23,080 accpilcations had been recieved. The company collected around Rs 150 million from the applicants charging them Rs 600 each as application and exams fee.
Kasajoo said the corporation was appointing gazetted and non-gazetted employees in administration and accounts department.
The loss making airlines, which has serious problems servicing its route both in domestic and international sectors due to lack of aircraft, currently employs more than 1,300 people.
