They have called for the government to make provisions for holidays during the Eid-ul-fitre; Bakar Eid and Mohammad Day. The prime minister responded to the call positively and pledged that he would take up the matter in the upcoming meeting of Council of Ministers for discussions. The delegation apprised the prime minister that the Commission earlier requested the Home Minister towards that end, but no progress yet.

Commission chair Samim Miya Ansari said the government should give public holidays during such cultural festivals when the constitution has recognised Nepal as the multi-lingual and multi-cultural country with the guarantee of religious freedom.
