Minister Bhatta meets WTO Director General in Geneva

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: Minister for Commerce and Supplies Lekh Raj Bhatta held a meeting with Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Pascal Lamy in Geneva on Wednesday.



On the occasion, the duo held discussion on trade and development concerns of Nepal and constructing trade capacity, informed Nepal UN Mission in Geneva.[break]



On the occasion, Minister Bhatta urged for the support of WTO in promoting and expanding Nepal´s export trade in order to create employment leading to sustainable peace in the country.



General Director Lamy assured that WTO would extend support through mobilizing multilateral and bilateral donors agencies in the areas of trade related infrastructure building, training, technical assistance and capacity building.



Minister Bhatta, who had gone to participate in the Eighth WTO Ministerial Conference, also participated in the meeting of SAARC Trade Ministers at the same day.
