"Hello! You´ve to come to The Bakery Cafe, Sundhara, immediately," Shah spoke over the telephone. [break] I thought there was some sort of album release at the cafe. I asked him the reason and he replied quickly, "Sudin got married today. It´s a great love story." Shah was talking about his best friend Sudin Pokharel, a prominent singer and a newscaster. But when, how, with whom? I questioned.
Sudin came on the line, "Bro, you have to be here as soon as possible. I´ll tell you rest of the story here."
With so many questions on my mind, I headed to The Bakery café at Sundhara.
It must be a big celebs´ bash. Sudin must’ve forgotten to tell me earlier about his wedding. Or is it a very private function? My mind kept on picking up questions one after the other until I reached the venue.
As soon as I entered the cafe, I understood one thing for sure. This wasn´t any loud and celebrated wedding of the celebrity in town. It was a very private affair with less than 20 people invited. The groom in pink shirt welcomed me with a great smile and introduced me to his newly wedded bride Rashmi Rijal. While I was expecting the bride to be wearing sari and ornaments; like how Nepali brides look like traditionally on their wedding day, I was left shocked to see her on kurti and jeans.
Well, this was not a planned wedding. This was certainly not an easy wedding, either. But the wedding was no less interesting than any film story where the hero fights with rest of the world to get his heroine back to him.
Singer Sudin Pokharel finally shared his love story.
Sudin and Rashmi first met on Facebook some nine months ago. They befriended each other and started talking online almost everyday. At first, both did not have any clue that they would fall for her each other. It was just a casual conversation. But in less than two months, they both fell into the mutual weirdness called LOVE. It was of course a man´s call to propose a beautiful woman. Therefore, when this popular singer went down to his knees, the gorgeous Rijal could not say anything more but YES. Since then, they started sewing together many dreams for their lives. They started to realize that life was just impossible without each other´s company.
Rijal, who was working for Nabil Bank at her hometown in Biratnagar, started getting marriage proposals. The confident eligible bachelor Sudin went to speak with her parents a month ago. But Rijal´s family played the role of the villain and sent Sudin back all disappointed. Just like how the families of heroines mostly play the negative role in films, Rijal´s parents tried to get her married somewhere else.
Of course, our hero was not giving up. He was in love. "True Love," he says. He made up his mind quickly.
"I was ready to fight against all social odds and norms. I was ready to fight with the world to make her mine forever. And she was willing to leave everything for me," Sudin shared.
Finally, on the morning of Wednesday, July 6, Sudin flew to Biratnagar with his best friend Asif Shah. Nobody in Kathmandu knew where he was heading for. Everything was kept a secret. Sudin waited for Rijal to come to the airport. He kept his face half covered while waiting for her so that nobody would recognize him at the airport. Finally, the heroine succeeded in escaping her parents’ restrictions and left her old world to start a new life with her love.
They both landed at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in the afternoon. Very selected friends found out Sudin´s planning. And at 3 in the afternoon, Sudin Pokharel and Rashmi Rijal took their vows at the Guheshwori Temple. Though Sudin´s parents had okayed the relationship, they however could not attend the ceremony for blessings because the whole planning was kept a top secret until the evening of July 6.
"God is the biggest eye witness of our wedding. We´ve taken the vows to live our life together. Yes, love has finally found its destiny and we’re now stepping ahead on a new journey," the successful hero of the real life shared at his small wedding reception on Tuesday evening.
Both bride and groom have switched their cell phones off since Tuesday morning. Now that they have tied their knots, the hero and the heroine of the story say are ready to face any circumstances ahead of them. To prove that, close friends and colleagues danced to the tunes of romance and togetherness for the bride and groom till late evening at The Bakery café of Sundhara in Kathmandu.
