At least three injured as agitating cooperative victims clash with police in Maitighar

KATHMANDU, Nov 20: At least three people were injured in clashes between agitating cooperative victims and police personnel in the Maitighar area on Wednesday. The violence erupted after police intervened when the protesters attempted to breach a restricted zone. 


Police resorted to force to disperse the crowd after protesters allegedly threw stones at them. One of the injured sustained a severe head injury.

The protesters, primarily cooperative depositors who have not received their savings, were demanding the return of their money. The demonstrations were organized under the leadership of the National Cooperative Federation of Nepal (NCF). 


Protesters marched from various parts of the Kathmandu Valley, including Sorhakhutte, Chabahil, Gatthaghar, and Pulchowk, converging at Maitighar. Holding banners and chanting slogans, they demanded accountability and action against those responsible for their financial losses.
