KATHMANDU, June 24: ‘Victims’ of cooperative organizations staged a demonstration in Kathmandu today. Under the leadership of the Sahakari Bachatkarta Samrakshyan Rastriya Abhiyan (Mahasangh) or the cooperative depositors protection national campaign (Federation), an organization dedicated to protecting the interests and rights of individuals who save money through cooperative societies in Nepal, victims gathered to voice their grievances.
The demonstration saw participation from a wide range of individuals, including many elderly citizens, some of whom attended even while carrying their regular medications.
The protesters demanded the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for embezzling cooperative funds, as well as the return of money to the savers. Chitra Bahadur KC, chairman of the Rastriya Janamorcha Party, addressed the crowd, supporting the victims' demands for justice.
