KATHMANDU, Dec 15: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) is celebrating its 29th Metropolitan Day today. The city of Kathmandu was declared a metropolitan city, upgraded from the then ‘Safai Adda’, on December 15, 1995. In commemoration of the same day, KMC has been celebrating its Establishment Day.
The metropolis organized a special program to mark its establishment day today.
KMC honors 10 individuals on its 30th Establishment Day
In the program,KMC honored senior ophthalmologist Dr Sanduk Ruit and other people from various fields.
The metropolis also honored and awarded actress Manisha Koirala, poet Durgalal Shrestha, athlete Baikuntha Manandhar and structural design engineer Manohar Lal Rajbhandari, AIG Meera Chaudhary, football coach Balgopal Maharjan, former captain of the Nepali cricket team and CAN secretary Paras Khadka, national karate player Arika Gurung, basketball captain Sadina Shrestha, karate coach Kedareswar Man Satthal,
Each award carried a purse of Rs 150,000.
