An exhibition titled ‘Kathmandu: My Fascination’ by artist Prabod Shrestha is on exhibition at Bikalpa Art Center (BAC), Pulchowk that kicked off on Saturday. The exhibition showcases pop-art like graphic images based on photography as per a press statement released by BAC.
It added that the material displays the lifestyle of modern Kathmandu, often juxtaposing the old and the new. It includes rickshaws and SUVs, temples and ultra-modern buildings, ancient statues and modern graffiti. When Prabod Shrestha lost his gallery during the 2015 earthquake he started walking. Day in day out he used to wander the streets of Kathmandu. “Kathmandu, My Fascination” is the outcome of the graphic artist’s post-earthquake wanderings as per the press statement.

Quoting Curator Saroj Mahato from Bikalpa Art Centre it stated, “I call the work ‘subtle and contemporary’. All of us who live in Kathmandu and at times struggle with its development connect to Prabod’s work. He plays with different graphic styles but ultimately it are about what makes this city so timeless and vibrant.” Shrestha is a graphic artist who is also known for his video editing and copper jewelry called ‘Zigi Expression’.
The exhibition continues till December 24.
