KATHMANDU, August 18: Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), Jumla, has sent a specialist doctor to Mugu, which does not have even a single doctor for a year.
Due to the shortage of specialist doctors, pregnant women in Mugu were facing additional hardship and suffering. According to the vice-chancellor of KAHS, Jumla, Dr Mangal Rawal, patients in Mugu were without doctors after doctors sent there earlier returned after serving their two-year terms.

Dr Rawal said, “When the hospital was without a doctor, seven pregnant women had to be sent to other health facilities by helicopters. In order to solve this problem, at the initiative of Minister for Health and Population of the province, Hira Chandra KC, Health Secretary Dr Roshan Pokhrel, CDO Rom Bahadur Mahat and others, Dr Surendra Shakya has been sent to provide service.”
He said that the presence of Dr Shakya will solve the problem of having to be rescued by helicopter for the treatment of emergency and complex diseases. According to Vice-Chancellor Dr Rawal, a team led by biomedical engineer Arjun Singh of the academy started the maintenance of all equipment of the district hospital on Wednesday.
