KATHMANDU, Sept 5: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has reshuffled 23 senior officials, transferring and appointing 14 joint secretaries and nine undersecretaries through a ministerial decision on Friday.
The reshuffle has brought changes in the chief district officers (CDOs) of seven districts, including Jhapa, Surkhet, Bara, Gorkha, Rautahat, Dolakha and Parbat.
Joint Secretary Shravan Kumar Pokhrel has been appointed CDO of Jhapa, while the district’s outgoing CDO, Shiva Ram Gelal, has been transferred to the MoHA.

Similarly, Mahendra Kumar Sapkota has been appointed CDO of Surkhet, Khadananda Adhikari of Bara, Dharmendra Kumar Mishra of Gorkha, Rekha Kandel of Dolakha, Ganga Bahadur Chhetri of Parbat and Laxmi Prasad Paudel of Rautahat.
Meanwhile, Rautahat CDO Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, Gorkha CDO Tulsi Bahadur Shrestha and Dolakha CDO Hari Prasad Ghimire have been transferred to the MoHA or its subordinate agencies.
Joint Secretary Rishiram Tiwari has been appointed director general of the Department of Drug Control.
Changes have also been made to the administrative leadership of several districts at the undersecretary level. Kuleshwor Aryal has been appointed CDO of Bhojpur, Navaraj Baral of Jajarkot, Mahesh Kumar Gurung of Khotang, Bandana KC of Salyan and Ganesh Gaire of Myagdi.
Similarly, Amar Bahadur Oli has been transferred as assistant CDO of Banke, while Bed Raj Phuyal has been appointed CDO of Dadeldhura.
The MoHA said the transfers and appointments were made with the aim of making administrative operations more effective.
