Heavy rain disrupts motorway to northern Gorkha

GORKHA, Sept 27: Motorway leading to more than half dozen VDCs of northern Gorkha district including Samagaun, Sirdibas, Chumbet, Bihi, Chhekampar, Loho and Prok has been disrupted due to torrential rain.



There has been no movement of local people and local means of transportation, donkeys, on the way after it got obstructed with heavy rain.



Rain-triggered landslides occurring in Lapu rivulet, Thumi rivulet, Khorla rivulet, Syali bazaar of Kerauja and Salleri Painyu region of Sirdibas blocked human mobility in the area, informed Pradip Shrestha, a local.



Transporting goods for fast approaching Dashain festival has been entirely halted when the motorway here was disrupted ahead the festive season, Shrestha added.

Likewise, the construction works of a bridge over the Daraundi river have yet to be completed though it was started since a long back.



With this, vehicles are plying through the river water.



In yet another incident, a passenger-ferrying bus (Na 3 Kha 7293) overturned into the river, however no human casualties were reported, informed the District Police Office, Gorkha.



Crane was used to rescue the bus. All the passengers boarded on bus are found unhurt, police added.
