Similarly, the meeting approved the resignation of former Chief Secretary Baikuntha Aryal. Aryal, who was assigned a responsibility equivalent to that of a Chief Secretary at the National Planning Commission, submitted his resignation last Sunday.

After being implicated in a corruption case, Aryal was removed from his position as Chief Secretary and was subsequently transferred to the National Planning Commission. Immediately after being acquitted by the Special Court, Aryal submitted his resignation. A cabinet minister confirmed that his resignation has been approved.

Similarly, the Cabinet meeting decided to appoint Dr Suresh Acharya as the Chief Information Commissioner of the National Information Commission. Acharya, who is close to the Nepali Congress, is also a former president of the Nepal Press Union. The government has appointed Gagan Bista and Durga Bhandari as Information Commissioners of the Commission, both of whom are supporters of the UML.
