Gaighat traders accused of selling outdated essentials

GAIGHAT, Oct 4: Local traders of Gaighat have been accused of fleecing consumers by selling outdated commodities, taking advantage of the Dashain festival that began three days ago.

GAIGHAT, Oct 4: Local traders of Gaighat have been accused of fleecing consumers by selling outdated commodities, taking advantage of the Dashain festival that began three days ago. 


The consumers are being cheated, thanks to the lack of a regular monitoring on the part of concerned authorities.

Moreover, the traders have also been accused of charging consumers about double the actual price of each item of essentials. 


The market irregularities have gone rampant at places like Ghurmi, Betini, Saune, Khabu, Rauta Salle, Phoksingtar and Murkurchi where outdated essentials like wheat flour, spices, pulses and edible oil are being sold, local people complained. 


The packs of some essential items do not display quality certification mark, said a local customer Kabita Khadka. RSS
