Where there is will, there is a way. Dr Thamma Shahi MBBS (BPKIHS), who was born in Kalikot of Karnali, organized a free health camps in his hometown for the betterment of Karnali locals.
Free health camps targeting flood victims
The free health camps were organized in 10 different remote areas of Karnali. According to the press statement released by Dr Shahi, more than 2,500 patients benefited from the free health camps. Quoting Dr Shahi the press statement read, "Free health check up could mean a lot to the people here. So my team decided to conduct free health camps for the poor and needy local people. Majority of the patients were children, women and elderly. The best part of doing this is seeing smiles on people’s faces after the treatment."
According to him, this is the first free health camp in his initiation and he was supported by the medical professionals of Karnali region. The statement added that 50 percent of the patients were from Dalit community whereas majority of the people were suffering from upper respiratory tract infection, abdominal pain, malnutrition, skin diseases, scabies, migrant headache, ureteric colic pain, weakness, diarrhea, lower back pain, ear problems, otitis media, cataract, myopia, hypermetropia, hernia, lipoma and asthma, among others.
