KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The finalists for the Integrity Idol 2018, which aims to encourage the most honest government job holders of Nepal, have been announced on Tuesday.
Accountability Lab Nepal (ALN) which has been organizing the contest for the last four years has announced Senior Horticulture Development Officer at Khumaltar, Arun Kafle; Chief Administrative Officer of Tikapur Municipality Dhruba Raj Acharya; Under-Secretary at Ministry of Youth and Sports Mahendra Prasad Poudyal; Chief District Officer of Bardiya Ram Bahadur Kurumbang; and Senior Auxiliary Nurse Midwife of Birendranagar Municipal Health Office Sita Kumari Sharma.

The five finalists were selected by a jury led by former commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Suryanath Upadhyaya through a rigorous selection process comprising of seven phases. According to the ALN, there were a total of 1,062 nominations for the award this year.
At the function, ALN country representative Narayan Adhikari emphasized the need for integrity and accountability among citizens and government employees in order to ensure good governance.“Our system is inclining toward corruption and sluggishness,” he said, “We hope to minimize these negative trends by encouraging the people who have been carrying out positive works.”
The general public can vote their favorite finalist through SMS and internet voting. The winner of the competition will be announced on December 7, 2018
