Energy Minister off to India to take part in 7th Int'l Solar Alliance

KATHMANDU, Nov 3: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka left here for India to take part in the International Solar Alliance.


Minister Khadka-led delegation flew to New Delhi at 3:00 pm to partake in the 7th International Solar Alliance scheduled from November 3-6 in the Indian capital, New Delhi.


The International Solar Alliance was declared during the 21st session of the COP-21 held in Paris, France in 2015 during which Heads of States from 120 countries had pledged for their active participation in the alliance for the promotion of solar energy.

During the four-day conference, the participants will discuss ways and means to increase the access of solar energy, ensure energy security and steer energy development.


Moreover, the conference will elect a new executive committee, it was shared.


The upcoming event will mobilize more than 1,000 USD billion of investment for the widespread use of solar energy which is expected to benefit Nepal in its goal of carbon emission to net zero by 2045.


Minister Khadka is accompanied by senior energy expert Prabal Adhikari, Director General at the Electricity Development Department Navin Raj Singh and Minister Khadka's financial advisor Amit Shrestha.
