CHITWAN, Feb 6: Devghat, the famous pilgrimage site, will have an electric crematorium soon. Started on the initiatives of the Devghat Area Development Committee (DADC), a detail study of the project has been completed by the Ministry of Urban Development, said the DADC Chairperson Tanka Nath Poudel.
The crematorium will sit on four kattas of land.
Electric crematorium to be resumed from Wednesday
The construction work will start after its report will come 15 days later, he said. For the approximately Rs 70 million project, the Ministry has set aside Rs 5 million, and the Bharatpur Metropolitan City Rs 2 million.
Introduction of this modern cremation machine will save cost of cremating a human dead body, and control deforestation, said Poudel. It costs more than Rs 3,000 to cremate a human dead body.
The Devghat-based cremation receives approximately 24 human dead bodies from various districts like Chitwan, Nawalparasi and Tanahun on a daily basis. RSS
