Construction of 'mini stadium' in Chautara stalled due to contractor’s delay

SINDHUPALCHOK, Oct 4: The 'mini stadium' project in Chautara, the district headquarters, which began in 2019 (2076 BS), has been stalled due to the construction company’s delay.


Giri Construction Company was awarded the contract with the aim of completing the project within three years at a cost of Rs 416.2 million. However, various reasons have been cited for halting the work.

Meanwhile, the company, in partnership with another construction firm, has claimed that 70 percent of the stadium's construction has been completed. Ram Krishna Dangal, chairperson of the District Sports Development Committee, also admitted the work to be progressing at turtle’s pace.


Amrit Man Shrestha, president of the District Football Association, lamented that sports activities in the district have been suspended for six years due to the lack of a stadium. He added as the field is piled with construction material, it has become unusable.
