Nine including Mishra, Rana, to face crime against state charge

Nine people, including deputy chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rabindra Mishra, RPP general secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, religious leader Pushkar Khatiwada, spokesperson for the United People's Movement Committee for the Restoration of the Monarchy Swagat Nepal, chairman of Shahi Yuwa Shakti Nepal Pashupati Khadka, and others, will remain in custody after being arrested for inciting violence during Friday's protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu. They will face the charge of 'crimes against the state.'

KATHMANDU, March 30: Nine people, including deputy chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Rabindra Mishra, RPP general secretary Dhawal Shamsher Rana, religious leader Pushkar Khatiwada, spokesperson for the United People's Movement Committee for the Restoration of the Monarchy Swagat Nepal, chairman of Shahi Yuwa Shakti Nepal Pashupati Khadka, and others, will remain in custody after being arrested for inciting violence during Friday's protest in Tinkune, Kathmandu. They will face the charge of 'crimes against the state.'


The District Police Range, Kathmandu, stated that it will present all the individuals before the Kathmandu District Court on Sunday to extend their custody. The police are defining them as "hardcore" elements responsible for inciting the movement and are preparing to file charges against them for 'crimes against the state,' along with charges of attempted murder, criminal conspiracy, arson, organized crime, homicide, and other related offenses.

The police have arrested 113 people so far in connection with Friday's incident. After conducting the necessary screening, the police will file charges against the other arrestees for offenses such as arson, organized crime, homicide, and other related crimes.


Two people died in the pro-monarchy protest on Friday, and the protest led to incidents of vandalism and arson. Police have accused Durga Prasai of inciting the chaos, and he is still at large.
