We are all guilty of editing our photos to get that flawless skin tone or using filters to hide those nasty pimples. Radiant and clear skin is everyone’s dream and though there’s always makeup to camouflage our skin problems, don’t we all wish our skin were the way we airbrushed it to be? Here are some natural home remedies for spotless skin. An additional plus is that they won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
Green tea
Green tea isn’t just for calming down and unwinding. It also can clear your skin. Studies have shown that applying products with two percent green tea extract twice a day reduced acne in adolescents with mild acne. Green tea contains antioxidants that can help protect against skin issues like acne while fighting against free radicals. You don’t have to buy fancy products for this. Simply brew a cup of green tea, let it cool, and use that on your face. You can dab it on your face with a cotton ball or pour the tea in a spray bottle and spritz it on your face.
Let your skin glow this winter
Aloe Vera
Chances are you have an Aloe Vera plant at home and have been using it to soothe sunburns and on cuts and wounds. Aloe Vera is great to clear up acne as well. Skincare products with high percentages of aloe as an active ingredient have been clinically proven to improve skin appearance. Aloe Vera contains salicylic acid and sulfur, which are both used extensively in the treatment of acne. Simply slice an aloe stem and rub the gel on your face twice a day. It will take some time for you to see the results but it’s worth the wait.
Asprin
If your skin is giving you a headache, turn to asprin for some relief. Aspirin’s active ingredient, acetyl salicylic acid, has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties that help treat pimples. Applying aspirin topically can reduce swelling, unclog pores, and even soften your skin. To apply to pimples, try crushing a tablet and adding a few drops of water to make a paste. Dip a cotton bud in it and apply as needed.
Coconut oil
Coconut oil is actually an excellent natural moisturizer for the skin. Its antimicrobial properties will keep the skin clean and infection-free. The phytochemicals present in it are powerful antioxidants that scavenge free radicals and impart a natural and healthy glow to your skin. Thought this isn’t for everyone as it can clog pores and further aggravate your skin problems, most people who use coconut oil on their face admit that your skin does get used to it after a while and there will eventually be no flare ups.
