CG joins Climate For Life drive<br/>Pepsi announces winners

KATHMANDU, July 5: The Chaudhary Group (CG), in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund, launched a series of Nepali childrens´ books -- Pani Prasad Volume I and II -- to mark the CG´s joining of Climate For Life, a WWF´s campaign aimed at raising global attention to impacts of climate change on the Himalayas. A joint press release issued by the group on Sunday states that CG´s support to the campaign was a part of its Gyan Udaya Scheme under the Youth Development Program.



Pani Prasad is an ingenious character created to teach young children about importance of water in human life. Filled with elaborates and pleasant drawings and easy-to-read text, the book aims at raising awareness on water related issues amongst young students in an interactive way through Pani Prasad.



“CG believes in the youth and the power of educating the youth. It is important that we galvanize the youth of our country to take action on important environmental issues like conserving water,” said Nirvana Chaudhary, executive director of the group.



"The younger generation is likely to be impacted by Climate Change the most. Educating them on the issue is crucial. As future citizens of the world, choices they make after entering adulthood shall present a truly sustainable solution to climate change” said Prasant Singh , Development and Marketing Director of WWF.





Laxmi Bank´s new branch in Chitwan



KATHMANDU, July 5: Laxmi Bank opened a new branch at Parsa Bazaar of Chitwan on Sunday, its 19th branch in the country and second in Chitwan. The bank has already opened 15 ATMs in addition to around 400 payment agents across the country, it said in a statement.



"Our second branch in Chitwan strengthens our presence in the region thereby allowing us to reach out to a growing population ready to adopt new and technology driven banking services," it said.



The bank also said the newly opened branch would play an active role in increasing its business in Chitwan and offer a range of personal banking services such as various saving and derivative deposit schemes that pay interest up to seven percent, life insurance and remittances.





Pepsi announces winners



KATHMANDU, July 5: Deepak Kumar Bohara from Chitwan and Surendra Bajracharya from Tansen of Palpa won three-night-four-day trip to Bangkok and Pataya of Thailand through the fourth lucky draw under the Pepsi´s ´Make Your Dream Team´ campaign.



Under the campaign, customers are selected for the lucky draw after making their Dream Team by collecting the crowns featuring top notch international footballers -- Thierry Henry, Cesc Fabregas, Kaka, Lionel Messi, Fernando Torres and Frank Lampard.



At the end of every week, two winners are selected through a lucky draw for the free trip to Bangkok and Pataya. Another lucky draw is scheduled to be held on July 12.
