KATHMANDU, July 5: Varun Beverages Nepal Private Limited is set to organize Pepsi Open Golf Tournament 2017 at Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC)'s, Kathmandu on Saturday.
Organizing a press meet in the capital on Wednesday, the organizer informed that about 120 amateur golfers will take part in the event.
The one-day tournament will be played in stableford format with ¾ handicap system, informed Kishan Agrawal, RNGC's tournament coordinator. He further informed that the tournament will feature events in five categories including men's, women's, senior, junior and super senior events.
"Since it will be a one-day event, we will conduct it in two shifts including morning and day with 60 players participating in morning shift and remaining in the day shift. We have already received encouraging registrations from the participants including in junior section," said Agrawal.
He also said that the winners will be given trophies alongside gift hampers.
Speaking at the program, Nishi Lama, Varun's marketing head, said that his organization was excited to tie up with RGNC to organize the tournament that is expected to help grassroots golf in the country. "Last year as well we organized this event which was successfully held. Hopefully we can do it in the same way this time also," said Lama.
On the same occasion, he also informed that his organization is thinking about making the tournament larger from the next edition. "If we are able to organize this edition successfully, we will make it larger from the next edition," added Lama.
Meanwhile, Agrawal said they have planned to organize golf tours across the nation for amateur golfers.
