UDAYAPUR, Oct 22: A woman injured in a passenger bus-motorcycle collision in Udayapur on Monday afternoon has succumbed to her injuries on Monday night while undergoing treatment in Biratnagar. The accident had occurred at 12:30 pm along the Madan Bhandari Lokmarg in Triyuga Municipality 7, Chuhade, Udayapur, after a passenger bus (Bagmati Province 01-006 Ba 5352) traveling from Khandbari to Kathmandu collided head-on with a motorcycle (3-02-006 Pa 7086).
According to the District Police Office (DPO), Udayapur, pillion rider Anshu Rai was critically injured in the crash and later died from her injuries.

Chief of the DPO Superintendent of Police (SP) Harihar Nath Yogi confirmed that Rai, 18, originally from Limchungbung Rural Municipality-4, Balamta, currently residing in Triyuga Municipality-5, Sripur, was taken to Aarya Neuro Hospital in Biratnagar for treatment. She passed away at 8:30 pm on Monday, as reported by her cousin, Renuka Rai.
The motorcyclist, Jibharing Sherpa, 22, from Rautamai Rural Municipality-7, Mukuchi, also sustained injuries and is receiving treatment at the same hospital. SP Yogi informed Republica that Sherpa’s condition is improving despite suffering fractures and injuries to his arms and legs.
Police have sent a correspondence to the DPO, Morang, to initiate the legal process regarding the deceased’s body. Morang police will conduct a postmortem on the cadaver at Biratnagar Provincial Hospital before handing it to the family.
Information Officer of DPO, Udayapur, Inspector Suman Baniya, told Republica that the motorcycle, bus, and the bus driver, Bhuwan Dahal, 26, from Panauti Municipality-6 in Kavrepalanchok district, have all been detained for investigation.
