Birendra Sainik defeated Ram Bhakta Memorial School with a wide margin of 8-0 in the quarterfinal match played at the ground of hosts Madhyapur Youth Association. Nirajan Pudasaini struck a hattrick for Birendra Sainik. He scored in the 21st, 52nd and 56th minutes of the game. Sandeep Gurung, Roshan Rai, Uttam Gurung, Anup Subedi and Anil Adhikari were the other scorers.
Likewise, GEMS beat SOS, Sanothimi 6-5 in a tiebreaker to book their place in the semifinals. The regulation time of the match ended at the score of 2-2. Suraj Thapa and Nischal Gothe had provided early lead to SOS but Bishesh Joshi and Subodh Chaudhary scored in the second half and leveled the match for GEMS. In the tiebreaker GEMS proved to be lucky and entered the semifinals.
Goldengate B, VS Niketan in last eight of Prime Cup
KATHMANDU, Nov 5: Goldengate ´B´ and VS Niketan confirmed their berth in the quarterfinals of the boys category of the Seventh Prime Cup+2 (U-19) Basketball Championship on Thursday. The two will join Prime, Bern Hardt, CPS, ACE, Goldengate A and Ullens in the quarterfinals.
As Campion Academy gave walkover to Whitehouse in the group C match, Goldengate B and VS Niketan booked their quarterfinal berths.
In the rest of the matches, Bern Hardt thrashed National Campus 44-29, while Ganodaya gave walkover to Galaxy.
Likewise, ACE outclassed Whitefield 57-20 and Rato Bangala beat Orient 31-17.
In girls class, Prime defeated Xavier International 23-11 while Orient beat NCCS 21-10.
