Prime defeated VS Niketan 47-34 in the first match of the day. Prime were lagging behind by 6-11 in the first quarter but they managed a comeback in the other three quarters with the score of 19-9, 12-9 and 10-5. Chetan Khadka scored 12 points for Prime.
In another match, Ullens beat CPS 50- 45. The score for the first and second quarters were 10-7 and 18-14 in favor of Ullens. CPS were back in form in the third quarter with 11-19 points but were unable to keep the pace in the last quarter which they lost by 11-5. Wijit Tamrakar scored the highest 18 points for Ullens.
Golden Gate ´B´ defeated Bernhardt 51-31 in the third match of the day. Golden Gate taking the entire match under control led all quarters 11-9, 15-8, 8-5 and 17-9. Dorje Lama of the winning side contributed the highest 16 points.
In the final match, Golden Gate ´A´ thrashed Ace 54-24. Golden Gate A led the match during the first and second quarters with 19-12 and 13-9 points while the results of the third and fourth quarters were 12-0 and 10-2 respectively. Bikram Dangol netted 17 points for the winning team.
LA, Baylor in last four of TVS Tyres Cup
KATHMANDU, Nov 6: Little Angel´s (LA) and Baylor Int´l Academy advanced into the semifinals of the TVS Tyres Cup Third Inter-school Invitational Football Tournament on Friday being held at the Madhyapur Youth Association Ground, Bhaktapur.
LA defeated St Xavier´s 4-2 in tiebreaker after the regular time ended in a 2-2 stalemate. St Xavier´s took the lead with Bivek Pradhan´s goal in the first minute of the match. Bivek doubled the lead two minutes later.
LA in an attempt to make a comeback scored their first goal through Rohan Kunwar in the 35th minute and Rahul Lama scored the equalizer in the 58th minute to take the team towards penalty shootout. Raman Manandhar of the winning side was declared man-of-the-match.
Likewise, Baylor Int´l Academy defeated Adarsha School 1-0 in the second quarterfinal match. Krijal Adhikari´s goal in the 23rd minute for Baylor became the deciding goal of the match as no other goals were possible in the match. Hari Makaju of Baylor was adjudged man-of-the-match.
Athletes off to China
KATHMANDU, Nov 6: A six-member athletics team from Nepal, including four players, left for Guangzhou, China, on Friday evening to participate in the 18th Asian Athletics Championship.
The male players who will compete in the championship are Hari Kumar Rimal of Nepal Army and Nawalparasi´s Tilak Ram Tharu. In the women´s category Keshari Chaudhary of the Nepal Police and Pramila Rijal of the Armed Police Force will compete in the event.
Hari will compete in 1500 m race and 3000 m steeple chase, while Tilak will compete in 100 m and 200 m races. Likewise, Keshari will participate in 100 m race and triple jump, while Pramila will participate in 200 m and 400 m races.
The team´s coach is Jitendra Kumar Chaudhary and the team manager is Bhairav Shahi. The championship will be held from November 10 to 14.
Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali bade the team farewell amidst a function at the National Sports Council´s hall in Tripureshwar. The minister wished success to the players and expressed his belief that the players would put up a good show at the event.
