‘Aakash’ to open Sports Film Festival

KATHMANDU, Feb 19: 'Aakash,' a 12-minute fiction film directed by Bijay Gajmer will officially open the 2nd Nepal International FICTS Sports Film Festival 2016 at Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), Exhibition Road in Friday. The film revolves around the football passion of a young tea boy in Kathmandu.

The two-day festival, which is being organized and co-organized by Nepal Sports Foundation and Icefall Productions respectively, will showcase seven sports films—four Nepali, and three foreign films each from the UK, Russia, India.On Saturday, Search for Common Ground Nepal is also holding a panel discussion on 'Sports for Peacebuilding' at NTB. Sports Commentator Suraj Giri, Cricketer Gyanendra Malla, Actor Reecha Sharma, Superintendent of Nepal Police Jagat Man Shrestha, National football player Rabin Shrestha, and Yubakar Raj Rajkarnikar from Search for Common Ground Nepal will be present in the panel discussion.

"The festival will highlight raising sports awareness and creating a common platform for sport movie makers," states the press release issued by the organizer.

The song 'Hamro Team' produced by Search for Common Ground Nepal has been chosen as the official song of the 2nd Nepal International Sports Film Festival. The song echoes the spirit of sports in bridging differences and bringing people together.
