KATHMANDU, Aug 9: A 75-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Rainas Municipality-6, Phulbari, Lamjung, with police suspecting she was murdered with a sharp weapon.
Police have detained five people for questioning and launched an investigation into the incident.
The body of Kali Sarki, who lived alone, was found under the bed at her home. According to police, Devaraj Magar, 55, of Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City-7, Dang, who had been renting a room in the same house for around two years, reported the incident at around 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Magar had returned home from Manang on Saturday, where he had gone in search of work, and found Sarki’s body under the bed before informing police.
A team led by DSP Jitendra Kumar Basnet, chief of the District Police Office, Lamjung, reached the scene after receiving the information. A team from the Gandaki Province Police Office, accompanied by a trained sniffer dog, was also deployed to assist with the investigation.
Police said preliminary examination suggested that Sarki had sustained a sharp-weapon injury to her neck. Given the suspicious circumstances, investigators have launched a detailed probe into the case.
Sarki had been living alone after her husband and son died earlier, while her daughter was married.
Police completed the examination of the crime scene and sent the body to the Provincial Hospital Lamjung in Besisahar for postmortem.
Investigators are working to determine the weapon used, the motive and the people involved in the killing, police said.
