KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Nepal has exited the Asian Games after its scheduled men’s cricket quarter-final against Sri Lanka was cancelled due to rain.
The match was scheduled for Tuesday at Korogi Sports Park in Nagoya, Japan, but could not begin as persistent rainfall prevented even the toss from taking place, according to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).

The washout ended Nepal’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
Under the tournament rules, when a match cannot be played, the team ranked higher in the T20 international rankings advances to the next round. Sri Lanka, ranked ninth in the world, therefore progressed ahead of 14th-ranked Nepal.
Nagoya has been experiencing continuous rainfall since Saturday, which had also affected Nepal’s group-stage match against Japan.
