Food Technical Team dispatched to investigate illness outbreak after Lamjung feast tragedy

LAMJUNG, Dec 10: A team from the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office at Damauli is coming to investigate the incident of death of  a person, and 29 others fallen ill after a mass feast in Lamjung, according to the District Administration Office (DAO) Lamjung.

LAMJUNG, Dec 10: A team from the Food Technology and Quality Control Division Office at Damauli is coming to investigate the incident of death of  a person, and 29 others fallen ill after a mass feast in Lamjung, according to the District Administration Office (DAO) Lamjung.


DAO Lamjung’s Administrative Officer Jagdish Mishra mentioned that technical teams are coming to the spot to investigate the incident. He also informed that so far one person has died and two dozen patients are undergoing treatment. 32-year-old Devi Pariyar, originally from Benisahar Municipality-4 and currently residing in Sundarbazar Municipality-9, passed away this morning.

"The condition of those undergoing treatment is normal," Mishra told Republica.


These people had attended a Christmas party at the residence of Kshetra Bahadur Gurung in Sundarbazar Municipality-8 on Friday evening. Residents of Ward No. 8 and 9 of the same municipality who attended the feast started falling ill from Saturday and are being treated at the same hospital.


Police mention that a total of 40 people attended the party, where they consumed rice, black lentils, chicken, and radish pickle.
