Rajha, Jan 10: A technical team has been deployed at Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality of Banke to control tigers’ menace. The technical team from Chitwan reached Rapti Sonari on Monday evening, according to Dadilal Kandel, chief of the Division Forest Office, Banke.
According to Kandel, the team consists of three people and they have started the work by setting up a camp at the Sub-Divisional Forest Office at Memanpur in Fatehpur.
Human-Tiger Coexistence Amidst Rising Tiger Population
The technical team will be assisted by staff from the Division Forest Office and the Banke National Parks Office, armed forest rangers and Nepal Army. Banke National Park has been mobilizing staff and security personnel along with two elephants in the Raptipari area for the past four days to monitor the tigers.
The locals of the villages across Rapti are terrified due to the increasing threat of tiger menace at the area. Chandani Tharu, 29, of Raptisonari-6, Fatehpur on Saturday and Leela Bista, 53, of Rapti Sonari-4, Persona on Thursday were killed after tigers attacked them.
Similarly, four people have been killed in three months in Banke district due to tiger attacks. Earlier, one person was killed in Rapti Sonari-1 Gavar and one in Narainapur. For the past one week, tigers have been attacking people and livestock in the forests of Baijapur, Binauna and Fatehpur of Raptisonari.
