LAMJUNG, Sept 29: Owing to adverse weather with incessant rainfall for some days, foreign tourists who reached Manang via the Annapurna Circuit Trail have started shortening their journey midway and returning to Lamjung.
Tourists from different countries who had planned to cross the Thorangla Pass to reach Mustang, Pokhara and other destinations began returning in view of increasing risks posed by the bad weather.

In-charge of the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) at Dharapani, Bhupendra Gurung, informed RSS that 246 foreign tourists returned from Manang to Lamjung in the last one week alone. Of those coming back midway, 151 are men and 95 women.
Some 100 to 150 foreign tourists used to visit Manang through Dharapani in a daily basis. However, the tourists' movement has declined after hostile weather. Now only one or two tourists are heading to Manang, while most of the tourists decided not to advance but return.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek, which begins from Besishahar Municipality-7 of Lamjung, is a famous trekking route of Nepal which goes through Lamjung, Manang, Mustang, Myagdi and Kaski. Thorangla Pass is the highest location, at 5,416 metres for the trekkers in this route.
The natural and cultural diversities and richness are alluring to the visitors.
