KATHMANDU, Nov 4: Adverse weather conditions have affected domestic flights to and from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). Flights from Kathmandu to various remote areas of the country have been affected due to poor visibility caused by adverse weather conditions.
According to Jagannath Niroula, general manager of the TIA, flights could not be operated to Lukla destination due to dense fog. “Due to adverse weather conditions, flights to remote areas have been affected. However, flights at airports in accessible regions are operating regularly,” he said.
Adverse weather affects flights at TIA
Only Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) flights are being operated at the Kathmandu airport. Visual flight rules (VFR) flights have not been operated due to the weather. The TIA office said that a significant number of tourists were stranded en route to their destinations due to flight disruptions.
Although the flights from Kathmandu to the airports in the Terai region are regular, most flights to the remote areas have not been able to operate. Although domestic flights at the TIA are generally affected, international flights are operating normally.
