Nepal set UAE 314-run target in ACC Premier Cup final

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Nepal got a major contribution from opener Aasif Sheikh, who smashed a century to anchor the innings. Sheikh scored 102 runs off 106 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes.

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: Nepal has set the United Arab Emirates (UAE) a 314-run target in the final of the third edition of the ACC Premier Cup after posting 313 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs.



Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Nepal got a major contribution from opener Aasif Sheikh, who smashed a century to anchor the innings. Sheikh scored 102 runs off 106 balls, hitting eight fours and four sixes.


Gulshan Jha provided further momentum, scoring 52 off 38 balls with three fours and four sixes.

Former captain Rohit Kumar Paudel contributed 40 runs off 44 balls, including two fours, while fellow opener Arjun Kumal scored 43 off 63 balls, hitting six fours.


Dipendra Singh Airee and Ishan Pandey added 18 and 13 runs, respectively.


For the UAE, Ibrar Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with four wickets, while Khuzaima Bin Tanvir claimed two.


The UAE will now begin its chase of 314 shortly.


The winner of the tournament will earn a place in the Asia Cup.
