DHADING, Sept 12: Pushpa Kamal Dahal, coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has stressed the need to prioritize permanent reconstruction and rehabilitation alongside immediate relief efforts in areas devastated by floods.
Dahal made the remarks during his visit to flood-affected areas in Galchi, Dhading, on Friday. He said the scale of human and physical losses caused by the disaster was substantial and that reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts could no longer be delayed.

“The physical damage is substantial. We must focus on both temporary and permanent restoration, as well as providing relief to those affected by the floods,” he said.
Dahal said the NCP had been involved in disaster response since the beginning. He said the party had formed a committee led by party leader Gangalal Tuladhar to coordinate recovery efforts, citing Tuladhar’s experience in disaster management.
He added that party leaders and volunteers had been mobilized in the affected areas. Dahal also praised the role of the party’s youth wing, the Young Communist League (YCL), in assisting flood victims.
