Adverse weather affects rescue of two foreign tourists from Gorkha

GORKHA, Oct 30: There are difficulties in rescuing two foreign tourists from Gorkha due to bad weather. The tourists got altitude sickness when they reached Lumjen Monastery at Ripchet of Chumanubi Rural Municipality-6 in Gorkha district in the course of trekking, and there have been difficulties in rescuing them. One of the two tourists is from Switzerland and the other from the United States, said Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal.

The tourists got altitude sickness when they reached Lumjen Monastery at Ripchet of Chumanubi Rural Municipality-6 in Gorkha district in the course of trekking, and there have been difficulties in rescuing them. One of the two tourists is from Switzerland and the other from the United States, said Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal.


Although all preparations have been made for their rescue, there is a problem in operating a rescue helicopter due to bad weather, he added.

Rescue efforts on Sunday failed as well. The Ministry of Home Affairs granted a flight permit, but the adverse weather affected the rescue, he said, adding that both of them will be rescued today if  the weather improves.
