Xpress Money supports Eco-Everest Expedition

KATHMANDU, May 11: London-based remittance company Xpress Money has partnered with Asian Trekking of Nepal to launch ´Xpress Money Eco-Everest Expedition 2012´ - a clean-up campaign on Mount Everest. The partnership was announced at a gathering held in Kathmandu on Friday evening.



“We are very happy to be a part of the unique expedition that aims at building sustainable livelihood around the tallest peak of the world,” Vinesh Nair, vice president, global marketing and communications, of Xpress Money, which has presence in more than 125 countries and has 135,000 agent locations around the world.[break]



Calling Friday´s agreement a beginning of long-term partnership, Nair said: “We are here to partner with the expedition for many more years to come.”



The Eco-Everest Expedition, which is led by renowned mountaineer Apa Sherpa, is an annual event that is organized to bring down garbage thrown around the tallest peak of the world. So far, it has brought down over 13,000 kgs of garbage from the mountain for proper disposal.



“We hope the movement that we have started will restore the beauty of the summit for future generations,” Ang Tshering Sherpa, chairman of Asian Trekking, told the gathering.
