Anushka Sharma will mark her OTT debut this year with ‘Chakda 'Xpress’ while Deepika Padukone is set to entertain with an intense love story ‘Gehraiyaan’. This year we have some interesting movies lined up for the streaming platforms. Take a look at the top five:
Kajol to make series debut with OTT
1.Chakda Xpress
Anushka Sharma returns to entertain with this sports biopic, based on the life of celebrated Indian cricketer Jhulan Goswami. The actress will put on the prestigious uniform and hit the field as one of the fastest female pacers in the world. ‘Chakda 'Xpress’ chronicles the iconic journey of Jhulan Goswami, and Anushka promised that this film will be ‘an eye-opener into the world of women’s cricket’. The release date of this entertainer is still under the wraps.
2.Monica, O My Darling
This Vasan Bala directorial is a perfect mix of crime and comedy with an extra large dose of drama! ‘Monica, O My Darling’ captures the journey of a young man desperately trying to make it big, with some unlikely partners and a creepy plan to pull off the perfect murder. Featuring Rajkummar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte and Sikander Kher in the lead, ‘Monica, O My Darling’ is packed with shocking twists and turns.
3.Looop Lapeta
Taapsee Pannu promises yet another thrilling and entertaining roller coaster ride with ‘Looop Lapeta’. This film is an official Hindi remake of German hit ‘Run Lola Run’ (1998) and features Tahir Raj Bhasin opposite Taapsee. ‘Looop Lapeta’ narrates the story of Savi who tries to save her ‘useless boyfriend’. Fasten your seatbelts as this ride premieres on February 4.
4.Gehraiyaan
Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi starrer ‘Gehraiyaan’ promises an intense saga, about romance and relationships, about complicated emotions and love. This entertainer is a relationship drama that dives into the "depths of complex modern relationships, adulting, letting go and taking control of one's life path". ‘Gehraiyaan’ is directed by Shakun Batra and is set for streaming from February 11.
5.Khufiya
Vishal Bhardwaj will call the shots for this spy thriller, which is inspired by true events. ‘Khufiya’ is based on an espionage novel ‘Escape to Nowhere’ by Amar Bhushan and traces the journey of Krishna Mehra, a RAW operative who is assigned to track down the mole selling India’s defence secrets. All through this edgy espionage plot, she has to wrestle her dual identity – that of a lover and spy. ‘Khufiya’ stars Tabu, Ali Fazal, Wamiqa Gabbi and Ashish Vidyarthi in pivotal roles.
