Birendra Sainik defeated Nightingale School by 38 runs in the match played at the Lab School ground in Kirtipur. Batting first, they put up a 132-run target to Nightingale in 20 overs losing eight wickets. In reply, Nightingale were all out for 93 runs in 18.5 overs.
Likewise, LRI beat Trijyoti School by six wickets. Trijyoti scored 77 runs before losing all wickets in 16.3 overs. LRI met the target in 13.4 overs losing four wickets as Keyur Jha struck 26 and Shishir Pandey scored 21 runs.
Hosts, Prithvi triumph in basketball
KATHMANDU, Nov 22: The hosts Tungram Int´l Academy (TIA) ´A´ and Prithvi won their respective matches on Sunday under girls´ category in the Seventh TIA Akira Cup basketball being held at the hosts´ court in Hattigauda, Lalitpur.
TIA ´A´ hammered Anmol Jyoti 41-4 riding on 13 points of Anusha Malla. Prithvi eased past Manjari 28-12. Sakuntala Dhimal netted 12 points for the winning side. Likewise, Mahendra Bhawan beat TIA ´B´ 18-10. Rusha Basnet netted 11 points for Mahendra Bhawan.
In boys´ category, Triyog had a hard fight for a 39-37 win over EPS. Pradip scored 6 points for Triyog. Gyan Niketan saw off Nerik 35-25 with 10 points from Susant. Similarly, Prithvi beat Anmol Jyoti 42-17, Paragon downed Himalayan 37-11 and LRI thrashed Awareness Int´l Academy 63-26.
