LRI, Birendra Sainik in cricket final<br/>Valley Public win in basketball

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: LRI and Birendra Sainik School entered the final of the First Rumpum Inter School Cricket Tournament organized by Kathmandu Cricket Training Center on Tuesday. [break]



LRI defeated Wilson Academy by 8 wickets while Birendra Sainik beat Galaxy Public School by a huge margin of 107 runs in the semifinals played at the Lab School ground in Kirtipur.







Batting first, Birendra Sainik put up 166 runs losing two wickets in 20 overs. Ayush Jung Rana scored unbeaten 69 runs for Birendra Sainik. He struck two sixes and seven fours. In reply, Galaxy were all out for 59 runs in 15 overs. Roshan Khatri took four wickets for Birendra Sainik.



In the second semifinal, Wilson were all out for 20 runs in 8.5 overs. Amrit Basyal and Bibek Sapkota took four wickets each for Wilson. Chasing the low total, LRI met the target in 6.2 overs after losing two wickets.





Valley Public win in basketball



KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The girls´ team of Valley Public B thrashed Anmol Jyoti 33-4 in the group stage match of the Seventh TIA Akira Cup Basketball Championship on Wednesday.



However, the win keeps no meaning for Valley Public ´B´ as four teams have already qualified for the semifinals. Valley Public A, Prithvi, Tungram International Academy (TIA) and Mahendra Bhavan are the qualified teams that will compete on Friday.



Likewise, the boys´ teams for the quarterfinals have also been finalized. TIA A will face Greenland, LRI will compete with Daffodil, Golden Peak will vie with Paragon and Valley Public will fight with Prithvi during the quarterfinals on Thursday.





MSSC in football semis



POKHARA, Nov 25: Majdur Shahid Smriti Club (MSSC) advanced into the semifinals of the 22nd Invitational Knockout National Football Tournament, defeating Rupandehi-11 4-1 in Lekhnath of Kaski on Wednesday.



Rajkumar Ghising netted two goals in the victory of MSSC. He scored in the 18th minute and stoppage time of the second half. Likewise, Rubin Shrestha and Bikram Lama netted one each in the 80th and 85th minutes, respectively. Ramesh Shahi scored one for Rupandehi in the 68th minute.



Rajkumar was declared man-of-the-match.



In another match, Dharan Football Club enjoyed walkover from Sankata Club, Kathmandu.
