A clash also took place when the police and administration tried to remove the bust within less than an hour of its installation. Police also fired a few rounds of shots in the air to bring the situation under control.

Rishi Raj Devkota, central assistant general secretary of Rastriya Prajatantra Party, said, “The foundations of the republic are very weak if the government has to make such a fuss over the installation of a bust of a king.” Devkota condemned the incident, saying that it was not necessary for the government to attack the ideology of any party.
