KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The Election Commission has confirmed that all preparations are complete for political parties to submit their closed lists of candidates under the proportional representation (PR) system for the March 5 House of Representatives election.
Major parties to submit PR lists to EC today
According to the schedule released by the Commission, parties are required to submit their closed lists for the proportional representation system to the Commission today (Dec 28, 2025) and tomorrow (Dec 29, 2025), spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said.
The Commission will review the lists submitted by parties on Poush 13 and 14, 2082 (Dec 27 and 28, 2025) between Poush 15 and 20, 2082 (Dec 29, 2025 to Jan 3, 2026).
After reviewing the closed lists by Poush 20, 2082 (Jan 3, 2026), the schedule allows parties to make necessary adjustments from Poush 21 to 27, 2082 (Jan 4 to Jan 10, 2026). The Commission will then verify the corrected lists from Poush 28 to Magh 3, 2082 (Jan 11 to Jan 16, 2026). The finalized closed lists will be published on Magh 4, 2082 (Jan 17, 2026). The final list for the election will be published on Magh 20, 2082 (Feb 2, 2026), Bhattarai added.
A total of 100 political parties have registered to participate in the proportional representation election using 93 election symbols. Only parties registered for the proportional representation system are eligible to submit their candidate lists today and tomorrow.
