He underlined the need of establishing lasting peace, ensuring political stability, and taking the country out of terror, threat and totalitarianism.
Speaking at a greetings-exchange programme and tea-reception organized by the Nepal Tamang Association Kathmandu Liaison Committee on the
occasion of the Deepawali Festival in the capital on Monday, Koirala said the Congress was and is always in favour of federalism and accused the UCPN (Maoist) of besmirching the Congress that it was against federalism.
All the people have become aware of their rights after the people´s movement and institutionalizing the achievements of the movement falls upon the shoulder of the Congress.
Also speaking on the occasion, party central member Gagan Thapa opined that the agitation was a must not for the Congress-led government but for guranteeing democracy and new election. However, the Prime Minister and the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman have not been serious towards this, he added.
He urged other political parties to be aware of the intention of UCPN (Maoist) of capturing state power.
